Muse is a Toronto-based scale-up and leader in neurotechnology. Having worked with Muse in both a full and part-time capacity over the past 5 years, my deep understanding of their product offering and users enabled me to make significant improvements to the in-app experience. Through collaborating with their head of product, co-founder, developers and data scientists, I helped shape the direction of the product, leading the research, design and execution of multiple core app features – increasing engagement by 22% and subscriptions in-app by 54%.

My time as a contractor for Muse was highly autonomous and self-directed. I was trusted and given the creative freedom to recommend, define and lead the way when it came to best practices. Without any in-house product designers, I executed on every touch point in the product cycle – conducting in-person and remote user tests, analysing the results, wireframing, creating hi-fi prototypes, briefing and QAing development work within sprint cycles.

Throughout this process I mentored and provided creative direction to a broad design team (design intern, illustrator and animator) and engaged developers, data scientists, marketing, leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
